I GOT IN!!
I am now one of the twenty bloggers of the first Avon Philippines Makeup Council. It was announced just last Thursday and yesterday, August 23, we had the incredible privilege of joining a workshop held by Avon’s Global Celebrity Makeup Artist, Lauren Andersen. Just imagine being able to learn from and converse with Jessica Alba’s makeup artist! Jamie King’s! Eva Mendes’! And that’s just naming a few of her celebrity clients. Not to mention the fact that Ms. Lauren’s really, really pretty in person. (Okay, I know I’m majorly fangirling right now but bear with me please, these things do not happen to me daily.)
I would just like to take the time to send out a sincere THANK YOU to everyone who helped me in every which way possible – from encouraging me that I can make it to campaigning for me to get more votes and for patiently voting until the vote actually got counted because the voting app got really slow at times. I wouldn’t be here without all of your tremendous support.
The Avon Makeup Learning Session was held at the Mindanao Ballroom, Sofitel Philippine Plaza from 9 to 11am. Avon’s Global Celebrity Makeup Artist, Lauren Andersen and Executive Director for Avon Color R&D, Lisa Lamberty, presented the new Avon Makeup Collection and explained to the audience just what makes this new collection special.
Featuring True Color Technology and approximately 2.5 years of research and development, the collection included the Ultra Color Lipsticks with Self-renewing pigments in13 beautiful shades and the nifty Clear View Window packaging, the True Colour Eyeshadow Quads with Numbered Shades in 6 incredible themed quads, and the Ultra Glazewear Lip Gloss with Nourishing Formula in 5 brilliantly pretty shades.
My personal favorites so far for the lipsticks are Carnation for an everyday lip and Sangria for a bolder lip look. I still haven’t tried Ms. Lauren’s fabulous lip color from the workshop though which was Berry Bright. I’ll have to remind myself to get that next time.
The two looks that Ms. Lauren demonstrated were Color Fantasy and Modern Edge. She made them seem so easy to achieve and hopefully, I’ll be able to recreate them one of these days. I don’t have both of the quads she used though which were Chocolate Sensation for Color Fantasy and Jeans for Modern Edge. I’ll have to improvise then or maybe get those two quads also for a truer to form rendition. Haha. Unfortunately I don’t have photos of the finished looks as I got distracted by the makeup goodies spread out on our table.
There was a short Q and A portion where the audience got to ask Ms. Lauren and Ms. Lisa for expert tips on makeup and skincare. I’ll try to summarize some of those tips in another entry maybe. The event finished with a photo op onstage with Avon’s special guests and of course, more photos off stage with everyone else. (I didn’t get to talk to everyone because I’m really naturally shy.)
Here’s my seatmate, Apol of Star Apol 101
Monique of Bonjour Bella! and Mai of Basta Igat, Sikat!

To finish off one of my ultimate fangirl moments, Ms. Lauren regrammed one of the photos from the event that I posted in my IG account. Hmmm… Maybe I can shift to becoming a photographer now instead of a blogger? Yes? No? Maybe not? Haha.

These are the ladies who won a position on the Avon Philippines Makeup Council. I am happy to see that one of the ladies who won is someone I voted for. Congratulations Katsy and to everyone else. You are all so lovely and truly deserve your place on this prestigious council.
Thank you so much for your support! I couldn’t have made it without you guys! 🙂 I hope to update more soon!
Nice to finally meet you! I have the Berry Bright and it’s awesome! 🙂 Got the JEANS quad from the workshop yesterday… and I’m excited to recreate the look. I was trying the wet brush technique earlier but I couldn’t pull it off. 🙁 Dunno why. I think I need to have other brushes. Haha!
Yup you too! It was really great meeting those of you I met haha there were a lot I wasn’t able to talk to sadly 🙁 I have to stop being shy lol. We need the Suesh brushes they had! Haha emphasis on “need”.” I’ll try the wet brush technique soon too but with the Vibrant Spice or Pastel Sweets palette. Or maybe I’ll get the other palettes when I stop by Avon soon 😀
Oh my! Wasn’t able to say hi to all the girls. Congrats to us! Looking forward to another fun event with you.
Thanks for visiting my blog Sai! 🙂 I wasn’t able to talk to you personally in the workshop. Congrats again and see you next time! 🙂
