Past an event and a procurement run for one of our clients, the near empty parking lot with a generous sprinkling of rain was just begging to be a backdrop.
It was already past 6 when we finished with the procurement so there was very little light around even though there wasnt anything between us and the sky… actually the sky might have something to do with the lack of light (post-rainclouds).
Our original intention was to have Katsy sitting down and develop a unposed shot from it, however, the barrier which was selected to be the seating was not cooperative at all (that and the fact that we didn’t want to get electrocuted. And so we went with a standing pose for Katsy.
Our regular gear wasn’t with us and so we had to do with what the kit lens is capable of even though f3.5 isnt really all that good with low light. After a couple of shots we determined that the headlights from the car should be set to high beam due to the distance thus we settled with that setup – a light coming directly behind and a couple in front.
On Katsy we had a pair of sneakers – KEDS X Kate Spade New York Triple in Tan Fairemont Stripe and an H&M black dress to match.
Here’s the final shot I’ve selected after around 15 minutes of shooting duration:
