Yes. I am a girl. Haha.
I’ve never really done beauty posts in my blog even if I do it all the time in my head. I get these products, either I buy for myself or gifts from my fabulous Aunts, use them, and assess whether they are worthy of a repurchase. I like trying out stuff but at the end of the day, I’m really all about efficiency and minimalism. In short, I’m a pretty lazy girl when it comes to fixing myself up. I adhere to the credo “wash and wear” for my hair and subscribe to the belief that with great skin, I get to sleep in longer in the morning.
For this particular post, I just wanted to review the newest addition to my vanity kit – Avon’s Ultra Moisture Rich Lipstick in Island Glow. Anyone familiar with Avon knows you can get their products through your favorite Avon lady. You browse through their latest product catalog and basically just take your pick. I decided to experiment with lipstick even if I rarely wear it. I know I have lipglosses and lipsticks in my arsenal but I use my lip balms by themselves 95% of the time.
So back to the review. (I’m still trying to figure out how to do a decent product review. I really just want to tell a story most of the time. But I’m trying to learn in case anyone should actually find a use for my reviews. We really should do research before purchasing anything. Research saves money most of the time. But impulse buying, in moderation, is so much more fun. Haha.) I realized I went off topic again LOL.
Back to the lipstick. What can I say except I like it? Haha. But it’s true. I like it. For the promo price around 160php, I would say it is pretty worth it. Even in its regular price of 299php, it would still be worth it. The color looks normal while in the tube (my normal lip color but better color) but goes on vibrant. Island Glow is the shimmer kind says the catalog and while I don’t really see it shimmering on my lips (no glitter yay!), it does give off a brighter feel to the face. Or maybe it’s just me loving the color and how it looks on me. Haha. The line tagged as Ultra Moisture Rich is true as well. You can feel its moisturizing properties after application and lasts up to 3 hours. I don’t know if it will last longer without a retouch but I had to stop counting at 3 hours because I had to drink. It goes on thick enough for the color to be really noticeable but without much difficulty in the application. I didn’t feel it drying out my lips but I can only judge this after a few more times of wear maybe. Overall, I would recommend this product to anyone who wants a good lipstick for 1/4 of the price of most high end ones. Getting different shades during promos is a pretty sweet deal especially if you want to try out shades you wouldn’t normally wear. I would probably get red and coral shades from this line if they go on promo again. That is, if I’m not busy trying out their other lines haha. For now though, let me wear Island Glow to sleep.
Shhhhh….
